Hinchliffe Stadium, a Negro League ballpark that survived

The city built this concrete bowl above the Great Falls for its high schools and opened it on July 8, 1932, with the Olmsted Brothers laying out the grounds. The New York Black Yankees and the New York Cubans made it a home field in the 1930s, and it is one of a handful of Negro League parks still standing anywhere. Larry Doby played here for Eastside High and was scouted out of it by the Newark Eagles in 1942. It closed after the 1996 school year, sat wrecked for two decades, and reopened in May 2023 after a ninety four million dollar restoration.
