Henry Ford's first car company fails after twenty vehicles
1899
Detroit, Michigan
Twelve backers, the mayor of Detroit among them, put money behind a mechanic named Henry Ford in August 1899 in the first venture of its kind in the city. The cars came out slowly and expensively and the company was dissolved in January 1901 having built twenty of them and lost $86,000. Ford's second attempt failed too. The third was the Ford Motor Company.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
