Grumman's Bethpage plant becomes a film studio
2009
Bethpage, New York
Northrop Grumman shut down Long Island manufacturing in the 1990s and most of the plant became an office park. In 2009 part of it reopened as sound stages: 160,000 square feet, seven stages, and thirty acres of paved outdoor space left over from moving aircraft around. A second Grumman Studios later opened at Port Washington North. The buildings that assembled the lunar modules now rent by the week to film crews.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
