Germantown, the Quincy peninsula built for German glassmakers

Investors led by Joseph Palmer took this peninsula, known since the 1640s as Shed's Neck, and laid it out in the 1750s as a manufacturing village worked by German glassmakers and weavers. The manufacturing venture failed, but the name stuck. Shipbuilding took over later because the site sits between Town River Bay and Rock Island Cove.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
