Ford's Atlanta Assembly closes as the most efficient plant in North America
2006

Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Ford opened this plant in December 1947 and built Taurus, Thunderbird and LTD bodies here for almost sixty years. In 2006 an industry consultancy rated it the most efficient assembly plant in North America. Ford shut it that October anyway, because the airport's height limits and the interstates around it left nowhere to expand. Porsche later built its North American headquarters and a test track on the cleared ground.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
