Erie Land Light, the first lighthouse on the Great Lakes
1818

The first lighthouse built on any of the Great Lakes, lit in 1818 to bring ships into the bay. The ground under it would not hold and it had to be rebuilt twice, the second time in 1867 with a proper foundation, and even then it was decommissioned within a few years because the harbour light did the job better. It stands on the bluff in a small park, out of work since 1899.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
