Sandy Hook Light

Sandy Hook, New Jersey

The oldest lighthouse still working in the country, lit eleven years before the Revolution to guide ships into New York over the bar at the harbour mouth. It was on the British side of the lines through the whole war and they held it against every attempt to put it out. It stands well back from the water now, the hook has grown a mile and a half of sand out past it since.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
