Duncanville Air Force Station ran the Nike missile ring around Dallas
1953
Duncanville, Texas
A wartime landing field occupied this ground in the 1940s, and in 1952 the Air Force built a permanent radar station on the site. The 745th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron began watching for Soviet bombers here in February 1953, guiding interceptors toward anything it could not identify, and the station became headquarters for the four Nike Hercules missile batteries that ringed Dallas and Fort Worth. It closed in 1964. Part of the ground is now Armstrong Park.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
