The Southern Pacific ran a 22 mile branch line from here out to Chatsworth starting in 1893, and the junction it created is why Burbank's depot mattered to a valley still full of wheat and melons. The old station building burned in June 1991. Regional rail came back the following year when Metrolink began regular service on 26 October 1992 and this platform was on the opening timetable. It now takes Antelope Valley and Ventura County Line trains, plus a few Pacific Surfliner runs through a codeshare with Amtrak.
