Daniel Freeman Hospital and the first paramedic classes
1970
Inglewood, California
Before 1970 an ambulance crew in Los Angeles County could carry you and little else. Daniel Freeman Memorial on Prairie Avenue opened one of the first paramedic training programmes in the country, teaching firefighters to read cardiac rhythms and give drugs in the field. The programme later merged into UCLA's prehospital care centre. The hospital itself has since closed.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
