Banner Desert Medical Center, which began as a donated twelve room house
1973
Mesa, Arizona
Mesa's hospital line starts in 1921, when Genevieve LeSueur handed over her two storey, twelve room house to serve as the Mesa Southside District Hospital. The Samaritan system replaced it in 1973 with Desert Samaritan Hospital, built on this site on land bought from the Dobson ranch. Samaritan merged with Lutheran Health Systems in 1999 to form Banner Health, and the campus now runs a children's hospital alongside the adult one.
