Bethesda Naval Hospital becomes Walter Reed and the presidents' hospital
1940
Bethesda, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Navy opened its medical center on Rockville Pike in 1940 and it has treated sitting presidents ever since. In 2011 the Army's Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington was closed and folded into this campus, making it a tri service hospital carrying the Walter Reed name. People in Montgomery County still call it Bethesda Naval.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
