Crisman, the Fourmile Canyon camp that started out as Tellurium
1875
Fourmile Canyon, Boulder County, Colorado
Miners laid this camp out in Fourmile Canyon in the mid 1870s and first called it Tellurium, then renamed it for Obed Crisman, who built the ore mill that gave the place its reason to exist. The Logan Mine nearby turned out to be one of the richest gold producers in the county, and a silver strike at the Yellow Pine in 1881 filled the camp out. Flooding in 1894 carried off much of the town and a stretch of the rail line into the canyon, and none of it was rebuilt to the old size. A second Logan strike in 1901 was the only reason anything was left at all.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
