Corwith Yard, the largest railway yard in the world when the Santa Fe built it

The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe opened this yard in 1888 and nothing else on the planet was bigger at the time. Cattle loaded at Santa Fe stations out in Kansas finished their rail trip here before going on to the Union Stock Yards. Counting its buildings and lots it covers close to a square mile, and it still works, now as an intermodal terminal swapping containers between trains and trucks.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
