Combs Addition, the Gary neighbourhood that kept building through the Depression
1928
Gary, Indiana
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The 99 houses of Combs Addition went up between 1928 and 1959, which means the neighbourhood was still filling in through the Depression, the war and the postwar years while much of Gary had stopped growing. They are small house cottages with Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival trim. The district joined the National Register in 2014.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
