Clyde Hill has three thousand residents, a gas station and a coffee shop

Fruit and vegetable farmers settled this hill in the late nineteenth century, the first of them an Irish homesteader named Patrick Downey who took 160 acres on the southern slope in 1882. The town incorporated on 31 March 1953 because King County was letting builders cut lots down to six thousand square feet. Clyde Hill set its own minimum at twenty thousand. Almost the entire city is zoned for single family houses, with two commercial parcels in it: a gas station and a coffee shop.
