Chalk's Flight 101 loses a wing over Government Cut
2005
Miami Beach, Florida
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Chalk's had flown seaplanes to the Bahamas since 1917 and called itself the oldest airline still operating. On 19 December 2005 one of its 1947 Grumman Mallards lifted off the Miami seaplane base for Bimini, shed its right wing to metal fatigue and fell into the channel. All twenty people aboard died and the airline never recovered.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
