Air Florida Flight 90 goes into the Potomac

Fourteenth Street Bridge, Washington · 1982

A jet took off with ice on its wings, struck the bridge and went into the frozen Potomac, killing 78. A passenger passed the rescue line to others repeatedly and had drowned by the time the helicopter returned for him.
