Cana Island and the keepers' winters
1869

A light on a small island reached by a rock causeway that floods in high water, so visitors sometimes ride across on a tractor-drawn wagon. Its brick tower was failing by 1902 and was clad in steel plate rather than rebuilt. Keepers wintered here with their families, cut off for weeks at a time.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
