Camp Bowie trains the 36th Division in Arlington Heights
1917
Arlington Heights, Fort Worth, Texas

The War Department began building a training camp on the prairie three miles west of downtown on 18 July 1917 and opened it that August, named for the Alamo defender James Bowie. With its rifle range and practice trenches the site covered 2,186 acres. The 36th Infantry Division trained here for ten months, held up by equipment shortages and epidemics, before shipping to France. The road through the old camp is still Camp Bowie Boulevard.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
