Calvary Cemetery on the Chicago line
1859
Chicago Avenue, Evanston
Lost on Belmont · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Bishop James Duggan consecrated this Catholic cemetery on All Souls Day in 1859, in the years when Chicago was pushing its burials out past the city limits. The limestone entrance arch facing Chicago Avenue was designed by James J. Egan. The grounds sit directly on the boundary between Chicago and Evanston.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
