Boyce Park, the only place to ski in Allegheny County
1963
Monroeville, Pennsylvania
Allegheny County dedicated this 1,096 acre park in 1963 and named it for William D. Boyce, the publisher who founded the Boy Scouts of America. It runs across Plum and into Monroeville and holds the county's only downhill ski slopes and snow tubing hill, which is unusual for a park system run by a single county. The county rebuilt the ski area and added snowmaking in 2008 because natural snowfall around Pittsburgh had become unreliable.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
