Bloede Dam put the powerhouse under the spillway
1906
Patapsco Valley, Maryland
Bohemian Baltimore · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Built on the Patapsco in 1906, this was the first hydroelectric dam anywhere to house its generating plant underneath the spillway, and one of the earliest poured in reinforced concrete. It supplied current to the mill towns along the river. Crews breached the dam in 2018 and completed its removal in 2019.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
