Berwyn splits from Cicero Township and fills with Czechs
1908
Berwyn, Illinois

Berwyn broke away from Cicero Township in 1908 and is still coterminous with the township it created. Czech families moving out of Chicago's crowded Pilsen neighbourhood built the place out within about twenty years. The Berwyn stretch of Cermak Road did enough business to pick up the nickname the Bohemian Wall Street.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
