Bare Cove Park and the ammunition depot buried underneath it

The Navy loaded and stored ammunition along the Weymouth Back River here from 1903 until 1971. At the 1945 peak the depot ran to more than a hundred buildings, fifteen cranes, barracks and a store, with magazines both above ground and below it. The Navy handed the land to Hingham in 1972 and the town opened it for walking two years later. The grassed over mounds along the trails are the old storage bunkers.
