The deepest channel in the Keys needed the heaviest bridge on the railroad, and when the road took it over the deck had to be built on top of the trusses rather than through them, leaving a highway running along the roof. A section was dynamited to let boats through after it closed, so the bridge now stops in mid-air. The beach beneath it is generally called the best in Florida.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
