Badger, the powder works in the prairie
1942
Prairie du Sac, Sauk County, Wisconsin
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Army condemned about seven thousand acres of Sauk County farmland in 1942 and put up a plant to make smokeless propellant, which ran through the Second World War, then Korea, then Vietnam, and employed enormous numbers of people in a place that had none of that before. It has been demolished and cleaned up over the past two decades and the land is going back to prairie and to the Ho-Chunk. Tom Every took scrap from here for the Forevertron a few miles down the road.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
