At the Fruit and Spice Park you may eat what has fallen
1944
Redland, Florida
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Dade County bought twenty acres of Redland farmland in 1944, including a one room schoolhouse and a coral rock building from 1913, and turned it into a demonstration garden for subtropical fruit. Mary Calkins Heinlein, the daughter of local pioneer farmers, ran it as superintendent until 1959. The 37 acre park now grows more than 500 kinds of fruit, vegetable, herb and spice, including 180 varieties of mango, and visitors are allowed to sample whatever has dropped to the ground.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
