ASU turns its old farm into a research park
1984
Tempe, Arizona

Arizona State shut down its agriculture programme in 1979 and was left holding a square mile of farmland in south Tempe. The legislature authorised improvement bonds in 1983, the land formally became the ASU Research Park in May 1984, and ground was broken that December. The tenants that followed, Iridium's satellite operation among them, put a working technology corridor on ground that had been growing crops a few years earlier.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
