Annie Wright, the boarding school a railroad president named for his daughter

Tacoma, Washington
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Charles Barstow Wright, the Northern Pacific president whose money built much of early Tacoma, founded this school in 1884 with Bishop John Paddock and named it for his daughter. It ran for more than a century as an Episcopal boarding and day school for girls before adding an upper school for boys. The campus sits on the bluff above Commencement Bay north of downtown.
