Stadium High School, the railroad hotel that ran out of money
1906
Tacoma, Washington

The Northern Pacific began this French chateau in 1891 as a luxury hotel for its terminus city, then abandoned it half built when the railroad's money ran out. The shell sat on the bluff until Tacoma bought it and opened it as a high school in 1906, adding a stadium in the gulch alongside four years later. Locals call it the Brown Castle, and it played the school in Ten Things I Hate About You.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
