Amtrak's Miami terminus opened in Hialeah when the old Seaboard depot ran out

The station sits on the line between Miami and Hialeah and is where the Silver Meteor and the Floridian finish their run down the east coast. It opened in 1978 to replace a Seaboard Air Line depot that was then forty-eight years old. It stands a few blocks from the Tri-Rail and Metrorail transfer station with no direct link between the two.
