Star-Telegram publisher Amon Carter put up the money in 1928 and the stadium held its first game on 11 October 1930, a win over Arkansas in front of 22,000 seats. Under Dutch Meyer the Horned Frogs took national championships in 1935 and 1938, and quarterback Davey O'Brien won the 1938 Heisman, the first ever awarded to a Southwest Conference player. Sammy Baugh, Bob Lilly and LaDainian Tomlinson all played on this field. Students nicknamed the place Hell's Half Acre after the vice district that once sat closer to downtown.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
