America's oldest Passion Play, staged in Union City since 1915
1915
Park Performing Arts Center, 560 32nd Street, Union City, New Jersey
German and Swiss parishioners of Holy Family began performing Veronica's Veil in a school hall in 1915, modelling it on the play at Oberammergau. The Archdiocese of Newark built them a 1,400 seat theatre in the early 1930s, and by 1934 more than a million people had seen it. It is the oldest Passion Play in the United States, and the building is now the Park Performing Arts Center.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
