Jerome, the copper town sliding downhill
1876
Verde Valley, Arizona
Seasider53 · CC BY 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
A copper town of 15,000 clinging to a 30-degree slope, which called itself the wickedest town in the West and emptied to fewer than a hundred people by 1953. Blasting set the buildings sliding downhill, and the jail has moved 225 feet.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
