The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the PGA Tour's only team format event, played at TPC Louisiana in Avondale since 2005.
The tournament started in 1938 and has been played every year since 1958, which makes it one of the older stops on the PGA Tour.
Avondale opened on the west bank in 1939 and grew to about 26,000 workers at its height, the largest private employer in the state.
In 1914 the Harahan Land Company, a group of Illinois Central Railroad officials, bought the old Southern University tract and subdivided it for railway workers, river workers and truck farmers.
Also called Camp Plauche, this was the staging area for troops moving through the New Orleans Port of Embarkation, and it turned into a training base in 1942.
