A ten-day spring edition of the Washington State Fair held each April at the fairgrounds in Puyallup, with carnival rides, agricultural exhibits, and concerts.
The Puyallup Tribe's school opened here in 1996 and is the largest affiliated with the Bureau of Indian Education, built as a model for what tribal schooling could look like after the boarding school era.
The Treaty of Medicine Creek set the reservation in 1854, and most of it was taken apart over the following century as Tacoma and its port grew across it.
The Tacoma Housing Authority took a federal commission in 1942 to throw up two thousand units for shipyard workers on the city's east side, and the first families moved in on 1 May 1943.
