Tacoma built these stairs in 1916 to get pedestrians down the bluff between Broadway and Commerce Street, modelled on the Piazza di Spagna in Rome.
Alexander Pantages commissioned this house in 1916 for his vaudeville chain and it opened in January 1918.
Tacoma put up its city hall in 1893 in a northern Italian style, with masonry walls eight feet thick at the base tapering to six at street level and a ten story clocktower on the corner of Pacific Avenue.
A castle of a high school, turrets and all, originally built as a luxury hotel, that stood in for the film's Padua High.
