Southlake was pasture with no town centre at all when Cooper and Stebbins bought 130 acres in the middle of it in 1996 and hired David Schwarz, architect of the Ballpark in Arlington, to lay out a street grid.
Founded in Southlake in 2000, Gateway grew into one of the largest churches in the United States, with weekly attendance around 25,800 across its campuses by 2023.
Carroll ISD opened Dragon Stadium in 2001 at a final cost of about 18 to 19 million dollars, seating 8,000 for the football team of a single suburban district.
After videos of Carroll students chanting a racial slur circulated in 2018 and 2019, a council of more than sixty parents, students and staff drew up a cultural competence plan for the district.
