The nation's longest running Flag Day parade has marched through Quincy every June since 1952, when Richard Koch Sr. led a small group of neighborhood kids around Norfolk Downs. It has grown into a major civic event with marching bands, fire trucks and fireworks over Merrymount Park.

  Edmund Quincy II built this house in 1686 as one building on a large family property, and it is the only piece of that property left.

  A track crew left a jack sitting on the rail on 19 August 1890 and the train that hit it killed 23 people.

  Bill Rosenberg sold food from a truck to factory workers, noticed that coffee and doughnuts were most of the takings, and opened a shop selling little else.

• The Wollaston Theatre runs as a dollar movie house until 20030.9 mi

  The Wolly opened on Beale Street in 1926 and spent its last decades as a second run house run by Arthur and Yvonne Chandler, showing films for a dollar or two after the first run theatres were done with them.
