Beaumont has celebrated spring on the Neches River since the late 1940s with a festival of concerts, a carnival, and a Grand Parade through downtown. It typically runs in April and has grown into one of Southeast Texas' largest annual gatherings. The festival is organized each year by a rotating slate of local civic volunteers.

Stilwell's railroad was built largely on Dutch money, and in 1897 its land agents laid out a town on the line and recruited families from Holland to farm it and work it.
Just before one in the morning on 27 November 2019 a pipe carrying butadiene ruptured at the TPC Group plant and let go six thousand gallons in under a minute before it found an ignition source.
The Texas Company began building here in 1902 to process crude from the Spindletop field twenty miles north, and the plant came online in 1903.
