The Karen New Year Celebration marks the new year on the Karen ethnic calendar with traditional games, dance, and a free community meal. Saint Paul is home to the largest Karen refugee community in the United States, and the celebration is organized jointly by the Karen Organization of Minnesota, the Karen Community of Minnesota, and the Karen Culture Organization of Minnesota. The event has run every winter for at least the past several years.
