Thirty two story brick buildings went up on Dunmanway between 1937 and 1942, paid for in part with Federal Housing Administration money and laid out to FHA rules that chased daylight into every apartment.
Veterans of the air war in France opened Dundalk Flying Field here in 1919, the first commercial aviation ground in Maryland.
Bethlehem Shipbuilding could not find housing for the workers pouring into Sparrows Point, so in June 1918 the federal Emergency Fleet Corporation took over the company laying out Dundalk and finished the job itself.
When Logan Field ran out of room, the city built its replacement on a peninsula it made itself, dumping fill into the Patapsco starting in 1929.
