Run since 1934, the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta is the largest intercollegiate rowing regatta in the United States, drawing more than 100 college crews each May. The regatta relocated from the Schuylkill River to Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey in 2023 after decades on its original Philadelphia course. Dozens of Philadelphia-area colleges still compete, and the event keeps its historic Philadelphia branding.

  Richard Hollingshead, a sales manager at his father's auto parts company in Camden, patented an open air theatre where the audience stayed in their cars and opened it on Admiral Wilson Boulevard on 6 June 1933.

  Stockton was a separate town until Camden annexed it on 24 March 1899, and everything east of the Cooper River became East Camden overnight.
