The Cape Verdean Association of Boston raises the Cape Verdean flag at City Hall Plaza every July 4th and 5th, marking the nation's independence with live music, food and craft vendors. First held in 1987, the festival serves the region's more than 40,000 Cape Verdean residents, concentrated in Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan.
