Youngtown, the retirement town that lost its age limit
1954
Youngtown, Arizona

Youngtown was laid out in 1954 as an age restricted town, six years before Del Webb opened Sun City next door, and it barred permanent residents under 18. In 1996 it refused to extend the stay of a 16 year old living with his grandparents, and the Arizona attorney general found the town had never properly established its age rules. The restriction fell in 1998 and Youngtown became an ordinary working town within a few years.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
