Weston votes itself out of existence to make room for Fermilab
1966
Weston, DuPage County, Illinois
Weston was a small housing development in the farmland between Batavia and Warrenville until the Atomic Energy Commission chose the surrounding fields for a new particle accelerator in December 1966. To clear the site, the village board voted the place out of existence. The laboratory that took its ground went on to find the bottom quark and then the top quark.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
