Wessagusset, the second English colony in Massachusetts, lasts seven months

Between fifty and sixty men landed here in August 1622 to trade, six years before the Massachusetts Bay Colony existed and second only to Plymouth. They arrived without enough provisions, wrecked their relations with the people already living here, and the settlement was finished by the end of March. Survivors went to Plymouth or sailed home.
