Waxahachie's Chautauqua Auditorium still stands, octagonal and open to the air

The Chautauqua movement sent lecturers, preachers and musicians on circuit through small town America, and towns built halls to receive them. Waxahachie put up an eight sided open air auditorium in Getzendaner Memorial Park in 1902 with room for about 2,500 people. Almost every hall of its kind was torn down or left to rot. This one was listed on the National Register in 1974 and still holds concerts.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
