Washington Park, bought in 1917 and finished by WPA crews
1917
Washington Park, Union City and Jersey City, New Jersey

Twenty one acres in four pieces, cut apart by Paterson Plank Road and Palisade Avenue and split down the middle by the Union City and Jersey City line. Hudson County had set up a commission in 1892 to run a boulevard along the ridge and hang parks off it, bought this land in 1917, and had Works Progress Administration crews build most of what is there now during the 1930s.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
